لورنوكسيكام

Likely Compatibility

Fairly safe. Mild or unlikely adverse effects. Compatible under certain circumstances. Follow-up recommended. Read Commentary.

A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with analgesic properties belonging to the oxicam group. Indicated for the short-term relief of mild to moderate acute pain. Administered orally in one or two daily doses.

As of the last update, we found no published data on its excretion in breast milk.

Its high plasma protein binding makes it highly unlikely to pass into breast milk. Another drug from the same group with the same degree of protein binding, Piroxicam, has negligible excretion in breast milk. Lornoxicam is the only one in the group with the shortest half-life.

Until further data on this drug becomes available, known safer alternatives may be preferable, particularly when breastfeeding newborns under one month old or premature infants.

Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
