ジオクチルソジウムスルホサクシネート

Compatible

Safe product and/or breastfeeding is the best option.

Anionic surfactant that acts as an emollient laxative when taken orally or rectally. It is also used in ear drops to treat cerumen in the external auditory canal.

At the date of the last update, we found no published data on its excretion in breast milk.

It is minimally absorbed in the duodenum-jejunum and eliminated in bile.

No problems have been observed in infants whose mothers took it, except for one case of diarrhoea possibly due to another associated laxative medication taken by the mother. (Greenhalf 1973)

The American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Institute considers it compatible with breastfeeding. (Mahadevan 2006)

Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
