It is a local anesthetic and antipruritic used for the relief of pain and itching associated with minor skin conditions and anorectal disorders (minor burns, insect bites, hives from exposure to nettles and hemorrhoids). Topical application.

Anesthetic drugs for topical use, both dermatological and odontological, have almost nil absorption when properly used.
Accidental ingestion of Pramocaine causes oral irritation, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. (Spiller 2006)
