Fenoprofen is a nonsteroidal, anti-inflammatory , propionic acid derivative with analgesic, antiinflammatory and antipyretic properties.
It is indicated for relief of mild to moderate pain in adults and for relief of the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
Oral administration every 4 to 8 hours.

According to the manufacturer It is excreted in breast milk in clinically insignificant amounts; the drug levels in breast milk were usually below the levels of accurate assessment (Xspire Pharma 2016, Rubin 1974).

Until there is further published data on this drug in relation to breastfeeding, known safer alternatives may be preferable, especially during the neonatal period and in cases of prematurity.

  • Paracetamol (Safe substance and/or breastfeeding is the best option.)
  • Piroxicam (Safe substance and/or breastfeeding is the best option.)
