We do not have alternatives for Urokinase since it is relatively safe.
Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
Your contribution is essential for this service to continue to exist. We need the generosity of people like you who believe in the benefits of breastfeeding.
Thank you for helping to protect and promote breastfeeding.

Endogenous peptide with enzymatic properties produced in the kidney and excreted in the urine. Converts plasminogen to plasmin, causing fibrinolysis and dissolution of thrombi.
Indicated in the treatment of arterial, pulmonary and venous thrombosis.
Intravenous administration.
At the date of the last update, there was no available published data on its excretion in breast milk.
Its high molecular weight and rapid elimination (AEMPS 2016, FDA 2008) make it very unlikely to pass into breast milk in a clinically significant quantity.
Due to its protein nature, it is inactivated in the gastrointestinal tract, not being absorbed (practically zero oral bioavailability), which makes it difficult or impossible to pass into the infant’s plasma from ingested breast milk, except in premature infants and in the immediate neonatal period in infants, during which there may be increased intestinal permeability
Expert authors consider the use of this medication safe during breastfeeding (Briggs 2015, Schaefer 2015).
