The seeds of this shrub are very rich in saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids: Linolenic, Linoleic, Oleic and Palmitic acids. It contains also a large amount of ascorbic acid. Commonly used as emollient and wound-healing agent without a valid clinical proof on effectiveness. Cooked products of the fruit are used for treatment of colds and gastrointestinal disorders. At latest update, relevant published data on excretion into breast milk were not found.
Based on its low toxicity (Fitoterapia.net), an occasional and moderate use is not regarded as risky while breastfeeding.
