We do not have alternatives for Methylcellulose since it is relatively safe.
Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
Your contribution is essential for this service to continue to exist. We need the generosity of people like you who believe in the benefits of breastfeeding.
Thank you for helping to protect and promote breastfeeding.

Product used as a laxative, as a vehicle in eye drops (artificial tears), and as an excipient, emulsifier, thickener and stabilizer in the pharmaceutical and food industries. It is obtained by processing the pulp of various plants, both herbaceous and trees.
At the time of last update we found no published data on its excretion in breast milk.
The molecular weight varies according to the type of plant from which it is obtained; most commonly it exceeds 100,000 daltons.
Its pharmacokinetic data (no oral bioavailability = no intestinal absorption and a very high molecular weight) make it impossible to pass into breast milk.
