Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
Your contribution is essential for this service to continue to exist. We need the generosity of people like you who believe in the benefits of breastfeeding.
Thank you for helping to protect and promote breastfeeding.

It is a potent loop diuretic with actions and uses similar to those of furosemide. It is used in the treatment of edema and ascites associated with heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disease. Oral or intravenous administration.
At the date of the last update we did not find any published data on its excretion in breast milk.
Its high binding to plasma proteins makes it difficult to pass into breast milk.
An intense diuresis that decreases plasma volume could decrease milk production. Long-term treatment with diuretic drugs (particularly those Thiazides with long lasting effect and loop-acting drugs) may inhibit lactation. Use a lower dose as possible, especially during the first postnatal month.
