Safe product and/or breastfeeding is the best option.

The juice of the ripe fruit is used. It contains proanthocyanidins (PAC), anthocyanosides, flavonols and phenolic acids. They have bacterial anti-adherence effect and is used as a preventive of urinary tract infection. (Fitoterapia.net, Amer 2015, WHO 2009, Nergård 2009)

At the date of last update we found no published data on its excretion in breast milk.

Consumption of cranberry increases the antioxidant capacity of milk and total polyphenol levels. (Valls 2022)

Widely used plant, including during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in many countries. (Amer 2015, Kennedy 2013, Sim 2013, Nordeng 2004)

Its wide use, low toxicity and the fact that it is consumed as a food, means that its moderate consumption, at indicated doses, is considered of little or no risk during breastfeeding. (The Royal 2013, Amir 2011, Dugoua 2008)

Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM team of health professionals, and are based on updated scientific publications. It is not intended to replace the relationship you have with your doctor but to compound it. The pharmaceutical industry contraindicates breastfeeding, mistakenly and without scientific reasons, in most of the drug data sheets.
