Royal jelly is a viscous secretion from the salivary glands of worker bees that serves to feed the bee larvae, including the queen. It contains water, proteins, fats, sugars, minerals and vitamins B5 and B6. (Ahmad 2020)
There are no clinical studies to support the medicinal properties traditionally attributed to it as a restorative or curative tonic in some diseases. (Vajdi 2023, Bahari 2023)
At the date of last update we found no published data on its excretion in breast milk.
Except for sporadic cases of asthma and hypersensitivity allergic reactions (Ghosh 2003), it is a food product devoid of toxicity and widely consumed, so there should be no problems in breastfeeding.
