Topical dermatological and gynecological antiseptic. Also used in oral rinses and for the treatment of canker sores and as a hemostatic in hemorrhoids.
Since the last update we have not found published data on its excretion in breastmilk.
The small dose and the low plasma absorption of most topical dermatological and gynecological preparations make transfer into breastmilk in significant amounts unlikely.
In the case of policresulen, the manufacturer assures that there is no systemic absorption and that it is compatible with breastfeeding (Takeda 2018, CecMed 2018).
When used orally, it must be taken in a highly diluted form followed by rinsing within a few minutes to avoid local irritation and burns (Wardhany 2016).
There is very little literature on this product and/or it is not up to date.
