C3 0H4 0Cl2 N4

Very Low Risk for breastfeeding

Safe. Compatible.
Not risky for breastfeeding or infant.

An antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal agent.
Used topically, locally, via pill or mouthwash and dermatological and vaginal preparations.

Since the last update date we have not found published data on its excretion in breastmilk.

The small dose and low plasma absorption of most oral, dermatological and vaginal topical preparations make it unlikely that significant amounts will transfer to breastmilk.
Systemic absorption of dequalinium through skin, mouth or vagina has been shown to be insignificant (Mendling 2016).

Do not apply on the chest or clean well before breastfeeding.

We do not have alternatives for C3 0H4 0Cl2 N4 since it is relatively safe.

Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM´s pediatricians and pharmacists, and are based on updated scientific publications.
