Minimal risk for breastfeeding and infant.
Various locally-applied products to treat varicose sclerosis: aqueous saline solution, microfoam, hydroxy-polyethoxy-dodecane, sodium tetradecyl sulfate, polidocanol / lauromacrogol, chromated glycerin, sodium salicylate, etc. (MedlinePlus 2017) are irritants that, when applied correctly, do not enter the bloodstream in significant quantities and, therefore, neither to breastmilk.
Other procedures to treat varicose veins, such as laser, cryosclerosis, phlebectomy or varicose vein ablation, also do not affect breastfeeding.
Suggestions made at e-lactancia are done by APILAM´s pediatricians and pharmacists, and are based on updated scientific publications.
